One part of the wine is fermented in vats and the other in oak barrels in order to have a fresh and fruity wine with a good structure.
Vineyards situation
Located in the southern part of Burgundy, at the North limit of Beaujolais area, Pouilly Fuissé is the top of the Mâconnais wines, in the heart of the great whites appellations (Fuissé, Pouilly Loché, Pouilly Vinzelles and Saint Véran)
Characteristics
Pouilly Fuissé is produced exclusively with Chardonnay grapes. The production is small (700 hectares planted) and cover steep slopes of the village of Fuisé, Solutré, Pouilly, Vergisson, and Chaintré, on which the soils are a mixture of clay and chalk from the Jurassic era.
Winemaker's comments / Gastronomy
Maison Louis Jadot produces a Pouilly Fuissé with emerald gold tones which reflect a wine of finesse and distinction; the tasting is harmonious, fresh, full of flavors with hazelnuts, toasted almonds, grapefruit, and lemon aromas.
It must be served rather cool and goes very well with shellfish, fish, white meat in cream sauce, and poultry.
