Haig Whisky is the oldest of all scotch whiskies and may even be the oldest whisky in the world. Haig Dimple Pinch is the US version of Haig Dimple , also named after the unique shape of the bottle. Haig Pinch and Dimple are the upmarket brothers of Haig Gold blended whisky but with an age statement of 15 years and a heavier malt influence of whiskies from Glenkinchie and Linkwood. Haig Pinch was a Haig Whisky product for the American market and was bottled at the slightly higher strength of 43% ABV.
Nose: Caramel and burnt oak. Try a splash of water to develop the nose.
Taste: This is a real man’s whiskey which despite a 15 year age statement can assault the taste buds with a 43% alcohol burn at first. However it quickly settles down to a warm, smooth, caramel malty smoothness tinged with oak that will leave you wanting more.
Finish: Short, earthy finish with strong hints of peat, burnt caramel and a touch of sea salt.
